We all need an upgrade, apparently.

We all need an upgrade; apparently.
We all have to have the new things, new traits.  
The new what not to do’s and don’ts.
We all sacrifice individuality for lust of perfection and sustainability, as society lives the life through us.

We all need to be better, my god!
Haven’t you been told? We are not; by heavens- we will never be good enough the way we are.

Love is broken.
And when my tears finally hit the ground; my bones break.
Shattering dreams that were chained so tight, ghastly demons hollowing my insides- tearing this being down one word at a time.
Fragile smiles holding the skin in place, as mobile eyes seek profound change.

You will never be right.
In a world like now, no one will ever be perfect when we look in the mirror.

For we are teenagers, students, adults, teachers, parents, children…liars.
We are broken, scarred, angry, loathed, unfixed, pained…triers.
We are monsters who cannot be everything we are meant to be.

We are the innocence- we are the evil.
We are the winners- we are the losers.  
We are the haters- we are the lovers.

We can fall- we can fade- we can scar- we can bruise- we can hurt.  
We are the fighters,
The generation of pain.

Honey, it’s okay. Please look at me, don’t touch that blade.
You know that it gets rid of your dreams,
Those are the only beautiful things left.
Darling, it’s raining heavily now,
You can cry; I won’t judge.
Maybe we can drown in something other than our feelings.

Things are the way they are supposed to be, they say.
And we are born with a mark of an expectation on our wrists…
And so when we feel the need to bleed, we see those words.
Things are okay right now,
This is the society they wanted,
This is what they got,
Here it is,
I wonder if they are happy-

With this generation of failures and misunderstood wonders.
It wouldn’t surprise me, if such a generation; was a mistake all along.
